Guerisson 9-Complex Horse Oil Review

HTML email (weffashion.blogspot.com)
current fave face & body moisturiser

I’ve been hearing all about the Guerisson 9-Complex Horse Oil from friends and as part of my work, I was researching on why Horse Oil has become one of the popular must buy when you travel to Korea. Why? Here’s some idea:
  • Long-lasting Moisture
  • Wrinkle-reducing
  • Whitening
  • Skin protector
  • Skin soother
The product is sa id to be anti-bacterial, multi-purpose moisturizer not only suitable for all skin types (face) but also for the body or hair. Formulated with the 9-Complex, which is made up of 9 herb & plant extracts â€" Lavender, Sage, Peppermint, Apple Mint, Rosemary, Cabbage Rose Petal, Lemon Balm Leaf, Bergamot and Chamomile.

I have been wondering whether it is using real horse oil and how does one make horse oil? When I find out, I’ll update my review. For now the horse oil in this product is imported from Germany.

Horse oil is said to be an old wives beauty secret to keeping their skin healthy and great back in those days. Stories dated back to China where horses aplenty, horse o il were used to moisturize the body during winter. It was natural and it had anti-bacterial properties.

Because the product is so popular, there are fakes to be aware of. Some girls get so paranoid about whether or not their products are real. It’s really quite simple if you just refer to the manufacturer’s site to find out how to spot an original product from Claire’s (the manufacturer).

the Guerisson 9-Complex from Althea.Kr is authentic
(I checked with Althea Kr & the manufacturer Claire's)

the hologram sticker design
(check for original cues)

the scent, which I love, smells like herbed lemon
(fakes smells like some detergent)

the printed label & expiry date at the bottom

From what I read, the original packaging is in dark orange and is grainy in feel compared to the fake (smooth and lighter in color). The product is sealed on both sides with transparent sticker.  The hologram sticker with the word Claire and leafy designs on the jar is the easiest to spot if it’s an original. At the bottom of the jar, is a printed label in Korean with an expiry date.

The product comes with a small “card” certifying its authent icity an d a nice transparent plastic spatula with the word Guerisson on it. The cap has the word Guerisson 9-Complex embossed (3D). The fake one has a smooth surface.

The texture of the product is suppose to be like butter (see pic). The fake is like a lotion.

Anyway I bought my Guerisson 9-Complex from Althea Korea which guarantees it’s product to be authentic as they deal direct with brands in Korea, otherwise a refund would be given within 30-days of purchase. Many question the whether the products on Althea are original due to the affordability.

Unlike other K-Beauty online shops in Malaysia, Althea deals directly with popular Korean brands in Korea itself. The co sts are significantly reduced thanks to a virtual store. The downside of being a company in Korea is that purchases are shipped from Korea to Malaysia, which takes up to 15 working days to deliver as compared to just walking into a store and buying it off the shelves. For a season online shopper like me, I feel the shipping rates are cheap since it’s International. You don’t know the nightmare I gone through with that screw up China “ebay” called Taobao. I had to pay RM500 in shipping charges and I still don’t see my parcel (it’s been a year and they’re not taking responsibility over it). Starcom Singapore and Malaysia social-media agency Rouge Communication engaged me to “promote” Taobao and neither could give a flying cat about what happened or compensate me back what I lost / spent.  I will seek legal action towards these three companies just to get justice.

[Back to my review I just get really upset thinking about my bad experience with Taobao]

Comparing Taobao and Althea, Althea has so far been one of the best online shopping sites to give good customer service besides value and “public service” by giving Malaysians a chance to purchase Korean products without needing to fly there. We all know Korean products are super cheap in Korea. It’s when it comes to Malaysia that somehow becomes double or triples the price.

texture is like butter minus the greasy oily uncomfortable feeling

love it as a natural, anti-bacterial moisturiser

I can’t give a complete review yet about the Guerisson 9-Complex, I still have 3 weeks to go and already I am finishing ¼ of the product. I use it for my body and face because it calms and soothes my sensitive skin besides moisturising it. Similar to Vaseline and Elizabeth Arden’s 8-Hour Cream (which is my travel favorite) but less greasier and oily. There is no residue from after using the Guerisson 9-Complex horse oil, it’s easy to apply, takes a lot as well if you’re using on your body. I have dry and sensitive skin so I feel this product needs a lot of application. A tiny b it doesn ’t do the trick.

Also unlike your usual face moisturiser, you won't feel the "wet" or "cooling" sensation when you use the horse oil and mind you, that don't mean your skin is not moisturised. My face is dry that I get peeling spells from time to time and this Guerisson 9-Complex within a few days of usage has save my skin from being flaky and peeling. Also my arms from itching due to seafood allergy (it gets read and itchy with bumps when I eat my fave seafood).

So far I love it as a moisturizer and skin protector (thanks to the Ceramide components, which makes your skin youthful). I don’t see any whitening effects after a week of usage. I’ll continue to use this prod uct unti l I hit the “pan” (bottom). For RM46 instead of RM73, I don’t have any complains.

Marks & Spencer 3 in 1 Body, Room & Linen Spray in Honeysuckle Review

HTML email (weffashion.blogspot.com)
capturing the fragrance of an English country garden

My love for fragrances don't stop just at perfumes. I am also in love with room sprays so a recent shopping trip down Marks & Spencer, 1 Utama got me excited when I stumble upon their new collection called the Honeysuckle under the Flora Collection for 3-in-1 Body, Room & Linen Spray. I also bought their popular deodorant and a bath & shower gel, all for roughly RM100.00. The scent matches my room potpourri of roasted chestnuts which reminds me of Christmas. I can't be lieve it's already August. What happened to my year? *slaps face*. While I am excited that my favourite month is nearing I am not excited about being a year older again *cries*.

This month marks the 1-year that I have split from my ex-fiance, how time flies. I am so happy that I didn't get married because now, I can spray my room with fragrances and wear perfume everyday. Something I couldn't do when I was living with my x because he hates fragrances. Now I laugh like a evil witch when I use fragrance.

M&S 3-in-1 Body, Room & Linen Spray (Honeysuckle)

So when I got the Honeysuckle body, room and linen spray, I went spray crazy in my room. Imagine me dancing like a ballerina spraying my curtains, carpets and bed and with a big twirl, bow down an d hands up in the air welcoming the scent of sweet, warm, honey caressing every inch of beautiful bedroom. I didn't know one could use the same spray as a body mist (one of the reasons I decided to buy this). When I feel warm and fuzzy, I mist this to feel loved and wrap myself around my blanket, reading a book to sleep.

easy to use, just spray & it's safe on the skin

When I finish this, I'll check out other collections but hopefully, this last me till Christmas because Christmas smells not only like roasted chestnuts but honey as well. Strange that I think Christmas smells that way.

Dear Rivington

HTML email (weffashion.blogspot.com)
Today was one of those wonderfully New York days where you are transported into different worlds all within our 13 mile island. The day began with a swim and followed by a stop into the office for meetings. I took an extra minute to stare out of my window and allow myself to be sucked into to the magic of the city. A perk to working in the Empire State building, no doubt.

It was a really productive day where conceptualizing ideas for campaigns, events and partnerships felt like I'm doing exactly what I'm meant to be doing. I pop out for drinks with some new friends and on my way come across this incredible store on Great Jones Street.

Dear Rivington is a visual representation of what I always imagined my life to be like. It's smart, well traveled, stylish, minimal, untraditionally feminine in a corky time traveler sense, open, beautiful and welcoming. I was in awe.

So I walked around the store, touching things, exploring and the shop owner walked up to me. I sort of braced myself for a snooty attitude and an exasperated "can I help you?" but, instead was met with a very friendly yet reserved hello. I told him I was overwhelmed by the utter cool of the store and asked if I could take pictures. He said of course and let me have my little girl in momma's closet moment. Touching everything, trying things on and snapping photo after photo.

Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, his beautiful doggy comes out and walks right up to me for some love. Ahh! The store is filled with Commes des Garcons esque designers, private label Dear Rivington pieces and lots of vintage. There a re many plus friendly options including my one true love, sack dresses, oversized sweaters, coats etc.

I wrapped up my day with a little Rose' with my friends at DNA, great conversations about design, architecture, branding, PR, relationships, art, business, personal motivation. Incredible. What a day!

My Style: Denim on Denim on a Plus Size Denim Skirt

HTML email (weffashion.blogspot.com)

I cannot lie; I have been loving this denim on denim trend and love finding more and more plus size brands that are giving us the varied options that I pine for! Did you catch my Denim Skirt LOVE post on Tuesday? You should. See, this is why I love the plus size denim skirt:

  • Slightly worn in (not too much)
  • Fitted throughout the hips and things and bum
  • A light denim wash (not acid wash) that can go from dressy to casual with a switch of accessories
  • That will last for seasons

Believe it or not, it has and can be a challenge to find UNTIL this spring’s denim on denim trend. Since this has hit STRONG, so have the designers and retailers as they have been giving us just what we need- ON TREND.

Denim on Denim on a Plus Size Denim Skirt on The Curvy Fashionista- Marie Denee As I am back with my latest “Fashion Authorities” posts for Addition Elle, I went on the hunt for this. So when I peeped not one but TWO plus size denim skirts in a wash or color that I loved, that spoke to my life, at Addition Elle? I KNEW that I had to make this work and twerk. So rather than doing a denim on denim jeans look, I wanted to play with a head to toe denim skirt look that I had seen floating around Pinterest and do it my way!

Addition Elle hooked me up with these pieces, a long sleeve denim button up, a sleeveless denim and white lace top, a WHITE denim skirt (which made me giddy with glee!) and a denim slightly longer midi skirt- which is like heaven!!!

Paired with two types of shoes and accessories, I made these two looks happen! I almost did the long sleeve denim button up with the longer denim skirt, but somehow, I thought the hues didn’t flow… LOL

BUT, I made it work and had a bit of fun!Denim on Denim on a Plus Size Denim Skirt on The Curvy Fashionista- Marie Denee

I MUST share. These skirts have stretch! HONEY!!! I can dance sit, walk, prance and do not feels constricted at all! I thought there would be a little bit of resistance, but no! (Thank God for Lycra!) I definitely would size up in the tops, the girls need a little breathing room, but I was rocking a 14, and DEF needed the 16 in the top! In both skirts, I sat very comfortably in a 16!

Special shout out to Chase Reign for the shots!

Please know that I will be rocking these denim skirts in sooo many new ways to me, this summer!

Ashley Stewart Bounces Back With A CEO Who Inspires

HTML email (weffashion.blogspot.com)

“Ashley Stewart has been reborn by simultaneously going back to its roots and embracing innovation, catapulting a neighborhood store into an iconic global brand.”

Ashley Stewart Bounces Back With A CEO Who InspiresWhile in New York for Full Figured Fashion Week, I had the pleasure of meeting a man who has left more than an impression on me. At the Celebrate Your Curves Expo, I had a chance to chat with the new CEO, James Rhee, who has lit a fire, reignited excitement, and has launched Ashley Stewart out of bankruptcy.  This man left me hyped, excited, and inspired to do more with MY brand and blog- all from a 30 minute conversation he had with me.

I mean… what CEO do you know who has random conversations with regular folk about business, passion, drive, and plus size fashion? You see, upon talking with him, I was not a “blogger” I was a colleague, a business owner, talking to a future mentor. If my 30 minute conversation is anything like what Ashley Stewart has experienced, I am sooo sure that Ashley Stewart is in great hands!

Ashley Stewart Bounces Back With A CEO Who Inspires

Think about it… remember the murmurs of Ashley Stewart going bankrupt? I remember waiting to get all my facts, folks posting on FB about the direction of the brand, and the questions about what was going to happen! But fret no more! Under the new leadership of James Rhee, Ashley Stewartâ„¢ not only avoided “cashing in its chips, but has also staged a remarkable reinvention â€" emerging as a formidable player in the plus size fashion industry.”

And I have seen it first hand with their team! I have seen, spoken with, and have interacted with the Ashley Stewart team more times from September to today than I have in the past six years of my blog. NOW? When I see Tamara, Erica, Michael, or the PR team, they are bouncing around, chatting up the crowds, all passionately working to change perspectives, give us what we NEED, and stay connected to the community!

Ashley Stewart Bounces Back With A CEO Who InspiresJust a few conversations with the team and you know that they are happy, have a renewed sense of ownership, and are inspired by the new leadership- one who has left his mark on me with just a 30 minute conversation. He is already on my kind-of-not-real-but-not-but-it-will-be-real board of advisors (in my head).

Thanks to Mr. James Rhee, a long-time successful investor-turned-Executive Chairman and CEO, he re-imagined Ashley Stewart’s business model and transformed “a failed brick-and-mortar company into a high-growth global brand with multi-channel distribution and a cutting-edge digital marketing and ecommerce strategy.”

Rhee’s philosophy is “grounded in algorithms, lean processes and technology, but with a heavy dose of compassion and empathy.” Under his passionate leadership that is felt and seen,  Ashley Stewart has made the commitment to US, the plus size woman, and I am here for this!

“We have rewritten the business model and operations from scratch.  We have taken no shortcuts,” says Rhee, “We are making long-term investments in the most important assets â€" our people, our customer, and our brand.  We fought tooth and nail for the survival of a brand that empowered a core customer base deserving of a voice.  What we achieved was perhaps one-in-a-million, and it was all driven by a mission to finally give due to Ashley Stewart and every woman she has touched since 1991. Whatever the future holds, I know that we have a team and philosophy that is finally worthy of serving the brand and our customer.”

Ashley Stewart Bounces Back With A CEO Who InspiresCome on and do it Mr. Rhee!

And you have felt, seen, and liked the changes too! I have noticed and checked out your reactions to their new lingerie, swim, and fashion options… there are more pieces to play in that excite you!

And girl, wait until you see the newest pieces for fall! There is this suede fringe coat that I NEED in my life- HARD!

But this news excites me. Seeing a plus size brand pull through with all of its heart to give us what we want and need in life. I LOVE this. Talking with them and sharing YOUR concerns, thoughts, and ideas- they hear us! They see what we share, the LISTEN!

Shop the newest arrivals at AshleyStewart.com

Sky is the limit with Ashley Stewart and I am happy about this new direction!

I plan on seeing more of them and sharing it with you in the VERY near future!

Have you noticed the change? The excitement? The differences? What would you want more of from the brand?
